Both commercial and residential properties drill for water on their properties. While the two may seem similar, there are in fact many differences between the two. Here are a few of the key differences to acquiring clean water for your business or home.

Methods

The methods used in Tampa well drilling are different. For one, commercial wells tend to be bigger as they need to supply more water to the business. Well companies like commercial entities because they tend to bring with them more projects than a single homeowner can. Drilling companies may focus on either commercial or residential or both. Residential owners can reap the benefits of the experience of commercial water well drillers because they tend to drill to different depths, find energy sources and remove water from the soil. Residential companies may not have as much variety of experience.

Purpose

A homeowner wants to drill a water well to use in their home for drinking and other needs. This water needs to be potable and drillers dive into the aquifer to find this clean water. They then attach it to the home through the plumbing system. A commercial company may need drinking water but also water for irrigation, hydrofracturing or treatments. Only the drinking water needs to be potable. The other uses can be non-potable which provides the drilling company more options to find water sources beyond the aquifer.

Regulations

The water well industry is regulated by local, state and federal authorities. A home only requires a few simple regulations and paperwork. Building a residential well is fairly straightforward and uses fewer materials than some commercial wells. A business’ water needs may come face-to-face with a variety of regulations depending on the wells they drill. A geothermal well system uses natural energy sources to warm the water and is fairly complex to install. These wells necessarily have more regulations put on them than a drinking water well.
